Sheet Fab
Sheet Fab notes for makers working in steel, aluminium and galvanised sheet around Cape Town. Include thickness, bend direction, hole tolerances and protective film requirements so laser cutting, folding and packing suit the final install, not only the flat pattern.

CNC Nest
CNC Nest briefs should show board size, grain direction and keep-out zones before files go to the router. For birch ply, MDF, ACM or phenolic sheet, mark tabs, edge quality and part labels clearly so site fitting in Woodstock or farther out stays organised.

Weld Bay
Weld Bay planning needs joint type, weld visibility and post-weld grinding called up from the start. On frames, brackets and gate components, note heat distortion risks, galvanising drain holes and lifting points before material reaches the bench.

Finish Pack
Finish Pack details help fabricated parts leave the shop with the right wrap, separators and fixings. Specify touch surfaces, masking areas, hardware bags and crate marks so painted panels, folded sections and small welded sets arrive ready for installation.

Powder Note
Powder Note should record coating system, gloss level and any coastal exposure, especially for exterior steel near salt air. Add pretreatment, cure colour reference and no-coat faces where earth points, threads or tight fit assemblies must stay clean.

Assembly Kit
Assembly Kit briefs work best when each component has a mark, fixing count and orientation note matched to the drawing set. Include spares, shim requirements and the sequence for sub-assemblies so installers can sort cartons quickly and avoid mixing left and right hand parts.

Finishes
Floor paths that match the week
U-Fic helps makers brief fabrication paths without agency fluff. We keep material, finish, and courier cut-offs plain.

First Photo
Start with a first photo that shows the whole fabrication area, not just the neat corner, so cutting, packing and access issues are visible before work starts.

Cut Off Habits
Lock in cut-off habits early: note drawing approval, material release and dispatch times, otherwise one missed handover pushes the full build behind.

Coastal Care
Near the coast, specify corrosion-resistant finishes, wrapped storage and dry loading points, because salt air finds exposed steel and fittings quickly.

Highveld Dust
On Highveld jobs, allow for dust in tracks, hinges and electrical housings, especially where fabrication meets fit-out on active sites.

Power Windows
Plan fabrication around real power windows, with cutting, welding and charging done before outages or generator changeovers interrupt the bench.

Courier Notes
Courier notes should include crate size, mass, handling marks and the site contact, so fabricated parts arrive ready for install instead of stuck in a depot query.
